A limited-edition water bottle, featuring artwork from Queer Dyke Cruising by iconic photographer Del LaGrace Volcano. Made by Climax Books to celebrate the launch of their book, which is dedicated to the influential 1988 photographic series.
Created in response to gay male cruising culture and amidst the HIV/AIDS crisis, galvanised by the spirit of protest arising from the social landscape of this era, Queer Dyke Cruising emerged as a bold intervention, challenging limitations placed on queerness. Shot on Hampstead Heath in North London, the series captures Jayne, Zed, Kim, and Serena in intimate, playful poses, carving out a space for the queer dyke community within this historic cruising ground. Cruising, often dismissed as anachronistic, resists time. It is both tradition and rebellion, and this series from Volcano asserts that cruising is more than a fleeting act; it’s a testament to queer resilience.
