This poster was created as part of Real Life and how to live it in Auld Reekie by Ross Sinclair as part of the Edinburgh Art Festival in 2013.
Sinclair’s project, Real Life and how to live it in Auld Reekie, prods at the tensions of identity constructed within Scottishness. At once the least and most (fairytale) Scottish of Scotland’s cities, Edinburgh provides a rich context in which to revisit Scotland’s complex relationship to her history and culture. In a series of graphics distributed throughout the city, Sinclair provokes a lively conversation between high and low culture, celebrated facts and uncomfortable truths.
